June 14, 1777

Stars & Stripes was adopted by Congress as the Flag of the United States.

Resolved, that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.

Happy Flag Day! Interestingly, only PA has Flag Day as a state holiday, establishing it on this day in 1937.
